When We Gather

Updated: Sep 9, 2021

A Spoken Word by Cyrus Kung

So as we begin let me share a few words worded to help us wonder

Because as I look around I can't help but wonder what it is that has brought us here today

What it is that might be stirring us in the midst of our weekly duties, in the midst of our daily fears

I wonder what it is that you might have brought with you here today

A bag, a son, a mother, a father, a daughter, a hope... maybe a toy

Maybe you brought an instrument, maybe a mind full of things, maybe nothing at all, maybe just purely a pure presence of joy

Maybe you as you've travelled here today you have brought a whole heap of baggage and hoping to check it in

OR maybe you are desperately carrying on all your bits and pieces, hoping to not exceed your limit

I wonder why you got out of bed this morning?

I wonder if you had a bed to get out of?

I wonder where you have been and where you might be going today?

Are you in a rush?

I love to wonder. Cause each of us carries with us our own unique story worthy of wondering

Something that seperates us and make us different in a broken and put back together mosaic kind of way

Let us wonder, celebrate and lament what it is that we have brought

Let us honour our unique journeys, our unique set of thoughts

But I the midst of our uniqueness we are remember we are here today

Let us also wonder why it is that we are here today, why we have gathered.

Let us sit, be still, and know that why we have gathered, might be because something maybe someone is gathering us.
