Reverend Cyrus Yat Sing Kung
When asked what we do, the response of least resistance is usually to say something about our vocation. But we all know that who we are is much more nuanced and complex than our vocation.
With that being said…
I am a minister in the Uniting Church, I am someone who loves working with their hands, building things and restoring furniture to its former glory. I enjoy connecting with people and hearing their stories, I enjoys seeing what makes people tic and learning about how their experiences shape who they are. These things all help me draw meaning in a world that can sometimes feel meaningless and empty. I am a person who is curious about the world, curious about people and curious about what it means to live into a deep longing for beauty and creativity in the ordinary and difficult places of life.
This space is here as an invitation to come explore this world with me, and see what beauty we might find in the spaces within, between and around our stories.
Poet/ Writer
Pictures are worth 1000 words but give me a 1000 words and I will inspire 1000 pictures, 1000 thoughts, 1000 creations. I write to express my longing for beauty. To see the world as it is, to recognise that beauty can be found everywhere.
This part of my life is about finding my voice and saying what I need to say.
Minister and Spiritual Director
Who am I? Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going?
Identity, faith, meaning, community are woven together in a symphony of human expression. Religion, Christian Tradition and the Church are here to assist us in making sense of our world.
This part of my life values sitting with those who are trying to make sense of this the world we live in.
Creative
We all experience change, it is a given. In the midst of this change, we can find great joy in the movement and creation of new ideas, patterns and ways of thinking.
This part of my life is about experiencing fully world around us.
What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual Direction is an ongoing practice of intentional listening which by one journeys with another who is seeking to discern God’s presence (however God is named) in the everyday experience of life. The practice includes listening together to the sacred and sitting in the in-betweenness of life, welcoming the beauty within ourselves and contemplate the life to be had all around us.
